Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale

Kibale Forest National Park


Kibale National Park is a tropical rain forest supporting Uganda Wildlife and a deciduous dry forest on the other side with woodland and Savannah on its rift valley floor.

Kibale Forest National Park covers the size of about 795km2 and is host to many species which include: about 13 primate species altogether adding to 60 mammal species, over 375 bird species and almost 351 tree species.


  • Day 1: Entebbe – Kampala
  • Day 2: Kampala – Fort Portal Town – Kibale forest
  • Day 3: Kibale Forest National Park
  • Day 4: Kibale National Park- Entebbe

Day 1: Entebbe – Kampala

You will be received at the airport by a company representative and after the covid-19 SOPs you will be transferred to your overnight hotel in Kampala.

Dinner and overnight at Serena Hotel (high end facility) Cassia Lodge (moderate facility) or Eliana Hotel (budget facility)

Meal plan: dinner.

Day 2: Entebbe – Kibale forest

After breakfast your driver/guide will pick you up to transfer to Fort portal/Kibale Forest National Park for an opportunity to see some of the unique species of Uganda wildlife. Lunch is en-route arrive Kibale in the evening to check in refresh have dinner and rest early to prepare well for the forest experience the next day.

Dinner and overnight at Kyaninga Safari Lodge (High end Lodge) or Primate Lodge (moderate Lodge) or Rwenzori View Guest House (Budget Lodge)

Meal plan: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 3: Kibale National Park

After breakfast go to the park headquarters for briefing about the park rules and the chimpanzees. Thereafter proceed into the forest to search for the habituated Chimpanzees.

The search lasts between 2-4hours depending on how far they have gone into the forest in search for food. Other primates to see are: Vervet Monkeys, olive baboons,grey cheeked mangabey plus the black and white Colobus among others. Return to the lodge to relax and after lunch go for a nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary.

Bigodi is host to over 138 bird species, several primates like the Black and white Colobus monkey, blue monkey, grey cheeked mangabey and the red tailed monkeys. The Bigodi wetland nature walks are an initiative of the local community and are therefore a direct way of giving back to the community.

Day 4: Kibale National Park – Entebbe

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and head out  to see the crater Lakes of Ndali and the “top of the world”- the views are breath taking here.  Full of memories of Uganda’s captivating primates that consist of a wider population of Uganda wildlife we will depart Kibale area.

Have lunch en route with a chance to savor some of Uganda’s home grown tropical fruits in season. Continue to be dropped off  at Airport Guest House in Entebbe town for a good dinner and rest – transfer to the Airport early the next day.
