Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Kibale Forest National Park

Overview

Visit Uganda on a tour to Kibale National Park, a forest block offering the best chimpanzee tracking experience in the country. Kibale National Park, hosts a total of about 13 primate species which include: chimpanzees, black and white Colobus, vervet monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey and more.

Visit,Bigodi wetland sanctuary (a local community initiative to generate income and conserve the environment) for a unique nature experience with great opportunities for birding besides the different primate and tree species.

From Kibale head to Bwindi National Park where slightly over half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas are found. Visit Uganda to see its great apes for a rewarding life experience.

Detailed Itinerary and Prices

Day 1: Entebbe – Kampala

Arrive Entebbe International Airport to be received by a company representative and transferred to Kampala about 42km away to check in to your overnight hotel and rest. If your flight arrives early in the day you will have a chance to be driven around Kampala city, acquire some local currency and, enjoy a cup of Uganda’s coffee.

Day 2: Kampala – Kibale Forest/Fort Portal

Wake up to a relaxed breakfast before embarking on the journey to Kibale/Fort portal at 8:00am for a drive of about 7 hours. Today lunch is en-route.  Arrive to check in refresh and enjoyed a relaxed evening. Today have an  early dinner for a well deserved rest.

Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale luxury cottages (High end lodge) or Primate Lodge Kibale -standard rooms (Moderate facility) or Chimpanzee Guest House (Budget facility)

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking – Bwindi National Park

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for briefing about the park and chimpanzee rules. After the brief head into the tropical rain forest in search of the chimpanzees accompanied by a ranger.

Other primates to look out for are: white and black Colobus, vervet monkeys, and grey cheeked mangabey among others. (This activity last 2 -4 hours) Return to the lodge to refresh and have bags ready and with packed lunch transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park. Our journey to Bwindi National park is via Queen Elizabeth National Park for an opportunity to spot game while driving through with chances of spotting Elephants, Uganda Kobs, lions plus several bird species among others.

Arrive Bwindi in the late evening. The great scenery views in Bwindi makes many realize why they should visit Uganda more than once and why its called the pearl of Africa.

Dinner and overnight stay at Mahogany Springs(High end lodge) or Engagi Lodge (Moderate facility) or Buhoma Community Bandas (Budget facility)

Day 4: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking

Today is dedicated to the Gorilla tracking experience which begins at 8:00 am with a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Please bring with you a rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, comfortable hiking shoes/boots, insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat and wear trousers for the activity etc.

The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy Primates for a group you have been booked to visit. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorillas, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The tracking may take between 2 to 8 hours but it’s well worth the effort.

If time allows, on return from the jungle you may go for a village walk/community visit for a great opportunity to see how the local people live. Meeting the indigenous people is a delightful addition to the memorable gorilla experience.

Day 5: Bwindi – Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park with lunch en-route. Arrive the park for a brief game drive before checking in for the night. The tranquil nature of this park makes it a great place to end your Uganda safari. it hosts the giant eland, zebra, and hippos among other wild species and hundreds of unique bird types. Enjoy a restful night in this wilderness!

Dinner and overnight at Kigambira Safari Lodge (high end) or Mantana Tented Camp (moderate facility) or  Eagle’s Nest (budget facilities)

Day 6: Lake Mburo National Park – Entebbe

Today we depart Lake Mburo National Park after a sumptuous breakfast and a refreshing morning nature walk in the wild. We will have a stopover at the equator for you to have a look at possible souvenirs and take pictures for your memories of  Uganda.  Proceed to Entebbe for dinner and overnight at 2 Friends Entebbe Beach Hotel Deluxe rooms ( high end) or 2 Friends Entebbe Beach Hotel standard rooms (moderate facilities) or Airport Guest House ( budget facilities)

Day 7:  Entebbe – flight home

Transfer to the airport early to go through the covid-19 protocols without hassle to be in time for your outbound flight home.
